Every year during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I stock up on the everyday items our family uses the most. Not just because I love a good deal, although the savings can be meaningful, but because it gives me months where I am not thinking about running out of basics. Plus, if I could have a magic 25% off coupon every time I bought toothpaste, detergent, or shampoo throughout the year, I would absolutely use it. Black Friday is the closest thing to that.
Since holiday sales have changed so rapidly over the last decade, Black Friday isn't the only day to get the best deals. Now, it seems like these incredible deals run from mid November all the way until Christmas. So, even if you don't snag some items on BF or Cyber Monday, keep your eye out throughout the season for similar deals.
For so many women and moms, keeping track of what is running low and what needs replacing is an ongoing, invisible mental task. Remembering who needs shampoo, if you have any razor blade refills left, and if you have AA batteries for the kids' birthday gifts all require energy from us. Restocking during Black Friday takes dozens of those tiny decisions off your plate and removes the last minute “we are out of this again” moments that interrupt your week.
Not everyone is in a season where buying multiples at once is possible. Storage space can be limited, and the upfront cost does not always make sense. If that is the case, choosing even one or two items to stock up on can bring calm to your routines.
Below are the everyday essentials I look for during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I certainly don't buy all of these things, but I keep my eye out on any insane deals for this list and snag the best deals.
Everyday Staples on my Black Friday and Cyber Monday Shopping List
High-end or salon hair care
These are expensive and I almost never buy them at full price. Black Friday is when the deals finally make the price feel reasonable. I keep an eye on my favorite sets and buy one or two for the year.
Razor blade refills
The savings on these are real. The price of razor blade refills is eye wateringly high, so I stock up now and appreciate it later.
Protein powder I actually like
I go through so much protein powder that I like to stock up at a discount. This is my moment to buy a couple bags and forget about it for months. I usually buy this one and this one.
Daily vitamins and supplements
At my age, the list of daily supplements I take seems to be growing exceedingly long. Black Friday is usually the best discount I’ll see, so I buy enough for a few months and call it a day.
Makeup and skincare
I only restock the skincare I truly use multiples of throughout the year, like the tinted sunscreen I wear daily as foundation, mascara, concealer, lip balm or gloss, moisturizer, serums, and any other skincare that I've had my eye on but waiting for a deal.
Quality pajamas
I love having a couple of pairs of really comfortable PJs on rotation for summer and winter. The brands I like are pricier, so I wait until November or December. I typically only need to replace one pair each year luckily!
Coffee and morning essentials
I stock up on coffee pods, matcha, and seasonal blends we enjoy. While I am saving money by skipping Starbucks and drinking coffee and matcha at home, I go through enough coffee each month that it feels nice to find a deal.
Dog treats, supplies, and chew toys
Santa typically brings our dog treats, a new bed (or at least a new cover!), and a couple of toys for Christmas. Santa loves to save on these gifts!!
Charging cables and portable chargers
We lose more changing cables than socks in our house. To save my sanity, I buy a couple of multi packs of LONG (5 to 10 ft) charging cables and add name labels to each one so that they are clearly labeled. This mostly stops the accusations of one kid stealing the other kids' charger.... mostly.
I also buy portable chargers and power banks for traveling. I love not needing to look for an outlet at the airport or on the plane. This one has multiple cables with different plugs, which reduces the amount of clutter you have to lug around when traveling.
Holiday gifts I already know I’m buying
If I know I want to order someone a book, a photo frame, or something cozy for the holidays, I’ll take advantage of the discounts now.

Why Stocking Up Helps
Stocking up once a year saves money, reduces errands, and removes a small but constant part of the mental load that women and moms carry. When the essentials are handled, there is more room for the things that really matter.
Choose the categories that fit your home and skip the rest. A little preparation goes a long way.
